Molecular Modeling of NanoCrystalline Cellulose

Molecular modeling can be used to predict the three-dimensional nature of NCC, which has a number of unusual optical properties related to colour and iridescence. At l’Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières, Dr. Sylvain Robert and his team, in collaboration with FPInnovations and with support from FQRNT and NanoQuébec, are building molecular models to better understand these unique attributes and determine the best ways to take advantage of them so NCC can be integrated into a variety of consumer products.
